Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about Colleged — how bookings work, payment safety, advisor verification, and more.
General
Colleged is a peer-to-peer marketplace where high school students connect directly with verified current college students for admissions guidance — including essay reviews, advising sessions, and exam tutoring. Sessions cost $20–$50/hr, compared to $200–500/hr at traditional agencies.
Booking & Sessions
Browse advisors at colleged.net/advisors, filter by university, service type, or exam system (US, UK, IB, YKS, etc.), then select a service and time slot on the advisor's profile. Payment is collected upfront and held in escrow until your session is complete.
Payments & Safety
Yes. Colleged uses Stripe for all payments. When you book, your card is authorized but not charged — the funds are held in escrow. Payment is only captured after you confirm the session was successfully completed. If anything goes wrong, the authorization is simply voided.
Advisors (Become a Mentor)
Go to colleged.net/become-mentor and start the onboarding flow. You'll need to provide your university, major, services, and pricing, then upload verification documents (acceptance letter or university ID). Once approved by the Colleged team, your profile goes live.
Trust & Verification
Every advisor manually uploads proof of enrollment — either an acceptance letter from their university or a current student ID. The Colleged admin team reviews this before the profile is made public. Verified advisors display a verification badge on their profile.
